Description: Ultimate Design Wind Speed Zones, Category 1, 2, 3 & 4 Buildings for Volusia County. Original data provided by Florida Department of Community Affairs, Codes and Standards Division and Applied Research Associates, as published June 28, 2011. Data provided by FL DCA via the Florida Geographic Data Library were shapefiles containing wind speed lines in Geographic Coordinates, that were used to create Figures 1609A, B, and C. (Windpeed2010.pdf). That data was clipped to the County boundary, and the projection was changed to the county standard, SPC, FL E, NAD 83. That data was then appended to create this line shape file. This data is for general planning purposes only and does not represent a survey. BASIC WIND SPEED. The basic wind speed contour reflects miles per hour, and is meant for the development of wind loads. See Windspeed2010.pdffor a more complete explanation. Questions about this layer of data or its ramifications in regards to local construction should be made to the Volusia County. Chief Building Official at 386-626-6591 x 12765.
