This layer represents the total acreage of Conservation Lands within Volusia County, calculated using a Python-based geoprocessing workflow. The process involves dissolving all Conservation Lands into a single unified dataset, removing hydrology features (such as lakes, rivers, and wetlands) through an erase operation, and calculating the resulting land area to determine total acreage.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>By excluding hydrologic features, this dataset provides a more accurate representation of upland conservation acreage, supporting clearer analysis of preserved terrestrial land resources. The layer is designed to support planning, reporting, and visualization efforts by providing a simplified and aggregated view of conservation land extent across the County.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>This dataset is useful for decision-makers, environmental professionals, and the public to better understand the scale of conserved lands and evaluate conservation outcomes. It is commonly used in dashboards, maps, and reports to communicate total conservation acreage and track progress over time.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>The layer is maintained by Volusia County Resource Stewardship and may be updated as Conservation Lands data or hydrology layers are refined. While every effort is made to ensure accuracy, this dataset is intended for informational purposes only and should not be used for legal or survey determinations.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV>
